Social Foundation

The minimum every human being deserves, simply because they are human.

Imagine a world where no one is left behind. Where every person — no matter their birthplace, gender, or income — has what they need to live with dignity, opportunity, and hope. That is the heart of the social foundation.

What Makes Up the Social Foundation?

The social foundation is built on 12 essential dimensions of human well-being. These are the things no one should go without:

  • Food

  • Clean water and sanitation

  • Health and healthcare

  • Housing

  • Education

  • Social equity

  • Income and work

  • Networks and connectivity

  • Political voice and participation

  • Peace and justice

  • Gender equality

  • Energy

Together, they form the floor — the foundation — on which people can build healthy, empowered lives.

Where Are We Now?

Sadly, despite progress in some areas, billions of people still live below the social foundation:

  • Over 700 million people live in extreme poverty

  • 1 in 10 lacks access to clean water

  • Over 250 million children are out of school

  • Millions live without reliable electricity or basic healthcare

  • Gender inequality, racial injustice, and political silencing remain widespread

In many parts of the world, people are falling through the cracks — not because the world lacks resources, but because they are not shared fairly.
